Kyros Ministry Milestones 
 1984     Began as an outreach project of the Congregational Church of San Mateo;
              Held first clergy training; Incorporated as a private non-profit October 19th 
 1985     Developed our extensive child abuse prevention project (Safe 'N' Strong) 
 1986     Added the prevention and intervention of domestic violence, sexual
              assault, and teen dating violence through workshops for high schoolers 
              (RSVP); Received its first award 
 1987     Expanded parenting classes to include parents of adolescents and 
              pre-adolescents 
 1988     Increased multicultural focus with bicultural staff and annual training
              conferences for the community (CELEBRATING DIVERSITY) 
 1989     Expanded specialized parenting classes for parents of color (PRIDE) 
 1990     Began elder abuse prevention program (TIES) with Aging and Adult
              Services; Created personal safety program for children with disabilities
              (CAPable Kids) 
 1991     Merged all secular programs in with Youth and Family Assistance
              Changed name to Pastoral Center for Abuse
              Prevention to focus on religious community 
 1992     Offered trainings at businesses on addiction, communication & depression;
              Completed a two-year clergy training partnership with Department of
              Social Services, San Mateo County 
 1993     Increased focus on clergy misconduct and sexual harassment 
 1994     Began extensive child and clergy sexual abuse prevention training of all
              Diocese of California (Episcopal) and ELCA Synod clergy, teachers, and
              youth staff;
              Began training workshops for secular therapists on spiritual components of
              healing 
 1995     Began sexual harassment prevention effort (WASH: Working Against Sexual
              Harassment) and educational support for clergy couples (Partners in the
              Parsonage) 
 1996    Expanded trainings to students, faculty and staff of ten seminaries and
             social service professionals at state/national conferences 
 1997    Completed 18 month series of workshops (Second Saturday Seminars)
             co-sponsored with Pacific School of Religion 
 1998     Changed name from Pastoral Center to Kyros Ministry to reflect expanded vision 
 1999     Spoke at eight state/national/international conferences, a lecture trend that continues 
 2000     Added sexual addiction prevention and intervention to its ministry focus 
 2001     Reduced activity to allow Kibbie Ruth to finish her doctorate 
 2002     Enhanced relationship with Roman Catholic Church as national scandal hits 
 2003     Helped develop the California State Mandated Child Abuse Reporters
              online training and manuals 
 2004     Developed interfaith training materials on domestic violence prevention for
              CA Department of Health Services 
 2005    Trained clergy and faith leaders throughout California in domestic violence 
              prevention and intervention.
